Description: The Department of Anesthesiology Perioperative and Pain Medicine, Alberta Health Services Calgary Zone, invites applications for the position of Transitional Pain Services Zone Lead in the Calgary Zone. Reports to the Department Head of Anesthesiology, Perioperative and Pain Medicine. The goals of the Transitional Pain Service include reducing the incidence and/or severity of chronic post-surgical pain, the chronic use of opioids in surgical patients including OUD, pain related distress and catastrophizing in the surgical patient and Emergency Room and readmission rates for pain management. Providing a bridge from in hospital care to the care in the medical home and a vehicle for research and Quality Improvement for post-surgical pain. Improving collaboration on patient care between surgical and anesthesia departments. Qualifications: Applicants must be a qualified MD or equivalent, with specialist certification in anesthesiology, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta for independent anesthesia care. The successful Candidate will have their FRCPC in Anesthesia; have demonstrated the ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team; superior interpersonal communication skills; and a strong commitment to delivering innovative anesthetic care. Desired competencies include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support and Advanced Trauma Life Support. The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, and must read, write and speak English.
