The Department of Pediatrics (DoP), Section of Community Pediatrics, invites applications for a pediatrician at the Rockyview General Hospital Normal Newborn Nursery. The target start date for this position is January 1, 2026. This role will do in-hospital assessments and provide medical care of newborn babies admitted to the pediatric group on the post-partum unit (Unit 64). Responsibilities also include providing consultations as requested by family medicine and midwifery colleagues. On occasion, this role may be asked to do prenatal consultations for babies expected to be admitted to the “normal newborn” service. Work commitment is to cover for a full 7-day week, taking calls as needed 24/7. This includes rounds each morning for health infants that do not require more urgent assessment. Typically the pediatricians in this group will be expected to do 5-8 weeks of service per year. They are expected to do a share of summer weeks and winter holiday dates. Applicants must have certification in Pediatrics by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Must read, write, and speak English.
