Description: The?Geriatrician?Physician?will complete comprehensive?geriatric assessments?on?older adults on an acute care geriatric medicine and rehab unit (the Acute Geriatric Unit (AGU)?at Rockyview?General?Hospital) and in the Seniors Health Clinic?( Rockyview General Hospital or Bridgeland Seniors Health Clinic)?in the Calgary Zone. ? On the AGU the physician will provide comprehensive geriatric assessments on?new admissions and? round on?patients?during weekdays and on specified weekends (one weekend per two weeks on service).?? They will?participate?in interdisciplinary team conferences?onsite?on a scheduled and ad hoc basis,?as?required?to support staff in the care of the patient. ? They will also?participate?in family meetings as?required?to support families’ understanding of?patients’?care needs and to?facilitate?care?and discharge?planning. ? In clinic?the physician?will provide comprehensive geriatric assessments on new consults?and provide follow-up assessments as necessary or as requested by?referring health care providers. ? A comprehensive consultation report will be provided to the attending primary care provider. ? The physician will work with the multidisciplinary team to provide?optimal?care for their patients.? After hours coverage 1-2 nights per week?on? service?,?first call from 1700-2200 and second call from 2200-0800 when a nocturnist is available (most nights)? The successful candidate will also?be required?to apply for a Clinical Academic Appointment in the Department?of?Medicine, University of Calgary.?? We’re passionate about what we do. Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have:? - RCPSC Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine? - The candidate must have or be eligible for General Register with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.? - This position is not sponsorship eligible.? - Must read,?write?and speak English.? - All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and Permanent Residents will be given priority
Remuneration is fee for service. The Practitioner is responsible for purchasing health and insurance benefits.
