Description: Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone invites applications for the role of Zone Section Chief, Facility Living and Post-Acute Care (ZSC), Department of Family Medicine. This 0.20 FTE position, governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Deputy Zone Clinical Department Head for Continuing Care and Seniors Health. The Zone Section Chief, Facility Living and Post-Acute Care will provide overall leadership for Facility Living in Edmonton Zone; contributing expert guidance and advice on Zone strategic, planning, and policy matters; providing leadership to special projects and programmatic development related to Facility Living and Post-Acute Care. The Zone Section Chief, Facility Living and Post-Acute Care works very closely with the Director, Facility and Supportive Living in a Dyad relationship. This collaborative relationship will involve providing quality, innovative, and efficient health services to patients in residential facilities and post-acute settings, including: - Providing effective and supportive leadership to Medical Directors at Long Term Care facilities across the Zone; - Supporting the effective delivery of medical services within Facility Living, within the established Alberta Health Services, Service Delivery Plan; - Working with the Director, Facility and Supportive Living, in undertaking integration strategies, identifying trends, issues and developments likely to affect work and outcomes within assigned areas of responsibility; - Supporting development of policies and procedures to facilitate the efficient, effective operation of the Facility Living and Post-Acute Program; - Developing effective processes and mechanisms to encourage best practices and improve clinical outcomes and quality of care in Zone-wide facilities; and, - Functioning as a strong advocate for sound medical/clinical practice. The ZSC Facility Living and Post-Acute Care will support teaching and research, and foster mutually collaborative relationships within Facility Living, the Division of Geriatrics, and the Department of Family Medicine. The position has an expected start date of approximately April 1, 2025, and an expected term of 3 years.

They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and considered to be a strong clinician by peers. The successful candidate will also be committed to fulfilling clinical and non-clinical duties as a representative of the Department of Family Medicine. Candidates must be certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC), be eligible to work in Canada, and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff.
