This is a part-time position with 0.2-0.6 FTE. This position will be for all working days. This physician will report to the Section Chief Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Inpatient. The unit has 6 beds, is expected to have 90% occupancy and will be admitting approximately 9-100 patients per year with average length of stay to be around 3 weeks. Other staff working or consulting for the unit include a Nurse Practitioner, Registered Nurse, Chronic Diseases Management Expert, Dietician, Social Worker, Aboriginal Liaison, Registration Clerk, Public Health RN, Booking Clerk, Home Care Case Manager, Pediatrician. Expectation: Psychiatric Assessments for patients during on call activities Psychiatric Assessments for patients after admission and follow up on a regular basis after admission. Prompt urgent electronic charting is expected. Working closely with the dyad partner to ensure system demands are adequately met on a timely fashion. Physicians must be well versed with electronic health record systems (SCM, Netcare, Connect Care, Epic) Ensuring the completion of documentation on time for expedited transfers and discharges Providing teaching opportunities to Child and Youth Psychiatric Specialty trainees, Psychiatry residents and medical students if present. As Calgary’s newest and smallest anesthesia section, we are keen to continue building a cohesive academic department. The Rockyview General Hospital provides anesthesia for a range of surgical specialties including orthopedics, ENT, plastic surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, oculoplastics, general surgery and urology. We have a busy obstetrical suite. We also provide anesthetic care services for out-of-the-OR procedures such as ECT and an acute pain service. Peter Lougheed Centre provides anesthesia for a range of surgical specialties, including vascular, orthopedic, general surgery, ENT, plastic, oromaxillofacial, as well as gynecology/obstetrics. In addition, we provide care in a variety of out-of-OR locations. These include GI endoscopy, ECT, Radiology and Acute Pain Service in-patient management. As a citywide department, there is also an expectation of work at non-hospital surgical facilities, as well as other acute care sites as required by the Section. This includes some rotation at other adult sites within Calgary for the first year. A standard position in the division will be a 0.8 FTE. This can be changed for academic or personal reasons by mutual consent. The starting date for this position will be on July 1, 2026 (by negotiation). The successful applicant will join a family-friendly and collegial department who work cooperatively to facilitate work-life balance. Description: Department of Family Medicine: o Participate in Departmental strategic planning. o Support the goals and objectives of the Department of Family Medicine and Alberta Health Services. o Participate in the Department of Family Medicine Executive Committee meetings. o Adherence to workforce planning goals and principles of the Department of Family Medicine, Calgary Corridor Section of Medical Inpatient Care: o Provide leadership and direction for the current Department of Family Medicine hospitalist programs located at the four adult hospital sites. o Collaborate with Medical Inpatient Care Site Leads and the Manager of the Hospitalist Program to ensure quality care, quality assurance and safety, optimal resource utilization, excellence in communication and continuing professional education. o Collaborate with the Calgary Hospitalist Governance Association representatives to ensure alignment of the funding model of the Hospitalist ARP with the required service delivery elements required by Alberta Health Services and the Department of Family Medicine. o Support recruitment and retention of physicians to staff the hospitalist program. o Develop and maintain healthy working relationships with key partners for the Section of Medical Inpatient Care. o In conjunction with medical and administrative leaders, participate in acute care service planning. o Provide collaboration between the Department of Family Medicine and Primary Care Alberta, Assisted Living Alberta and Recovery Alberta to promote integrated care across the continuum. o Oversee the administrative medical affairs requirements of the section including periodic reviews, workforce planning and AIVA submissions.
