Position Description: The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pediatric Critical Care, at the Alberta Children’s Hospital invite applicants to apply for this 0.6 FTE Clinical Associate Position. Clinical Associates are not the Most Responsible Physician and these positions are designed to provide mid-level coverage to the PICU, supporting the PICU attending physician and the rotating resident medical staff to ensure 24/7 coverage. This role will help fill code team coverage for the ACH. This role will work under the direction of a supervising physician under a multidisciplinary team setting to deliver acute patient care in the Section of Pediatric Critical Care at the Alberta Children's Hospital. This role will work alongside other members of the Department, including physicians and nurses to provide clinical care to pediatric patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This position will work 25 hours per week including night and weekend coverage. The PICU operates 24/7 with continuous provision of all services irrespective of the time of the day. The physician will hand over patient care directly at the end of each shift to the next team. The PICU provides care to 900 children per annum as mixed, closed general medical and surgical intensive care with an overall mortality of 2%. We provide extracorporeal life support, extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation, continuous renal replacement therapy, high frequency oscillation, inhaled nitric oxide therapy, as well as conventional mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation and inotropic support. Position Description: The Department of Pediatrics (DoP), invite applicants to apply to this 0.25 FTE, Fee for Service, Locum Eating Disorder Pediatrician position ending June 30, 2026, at the Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) Eating Disorders Clinic. This is a shared position between the sections of Adolescent Medicine and Pediatric Hospital Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics. The target start date is January 10, 2026 or negotiable based on the successful applicant’s availability. The term of the position would end on June 30, 2026. This position would ideally be suited for a General Pediatrician, Hospital Pediatrician or an Adolescent Medicine Specialist with demonstrated experience and strong skills in Adolescent Health and Eating Disorder medical care or Adolescent Medicine Specialist looking for this type of practice. This role will work in an acute care setting at the ACH where patients with eating disorders are currently being admitted for acute medical stabilization and nutritional rehabilitation. The 0.25 FTE Locum will be expected to work 1 week per month in an MRP role. Typically, the position would be Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. The role may also include providing one half-day clinic per month during the same week of service. This clinic is an urgent eating disorder outpatient clinic in the Calgary Eating Disorder Program at the ACH for children and youth with eating disorders who are medically precarious and at risk of hospitalization and/or stepping down from inpatient admission and requiring follow-up within a week of discharge. The Physician will be responsible for consults from the emergency department and ACH clinics for admission for medical stabilization of patients with eating disorders (on average 1 per day, each taking 1-2 hours). Daily inpatient care of medically unstable eating disorder patients (average of 5-10 inpatients at any given time). The Physician would be supported by an interdisciplinary team including psychiatrist, therapist/family counsellor, nurses and dietician. This practitioner would work closely with the Pediatric Hospital Medicine Teams, Psychiatry Consult Liaison inpatient service and have the Adolescent Medicine Specialists as resources for complex cases that need further consultation. The Section of Adolescent Medicine, based at the Alberta Children’s Hospital, provides specialized care to adolescents (ages 12-23). Adolescent Medicine subspecialists focus on the comprehensive assessment and treatment of complex adolescent health issues in a variety of programs including the Calgary Eating Disorder Program. This role will do in-hospital assessments and provide medical care of newborn babies admitted to the pediatric group on the post-partum unit (Unit 64). Millet has a population of just under 2,000 currently, with a large rural community as well. We are looking for a family or general practitioner who will maintain a patient portal of a minimum of 500. We are seeking a Physician who is able to work well with other health care providers in unison to provide optimal and effective care to patients.
