The Department’s vision is to lead patient-centered eye care through outstanding and integrated service, education and research. This is a new net-addition position to the ophthalmology complement in the Edmonton Corridor, based primarily at the Stollery Children’s Hospital (STO) and the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH). The Eye Institute of Alberta (EIA) serves a population of over 3 million people across the Edmonton region, northern Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and the Northwest and Yukon Territories. The Stollery Children’s Hospital eye clinic is one of the busiest in Canada, with over 11,000 visits per year. The University of Alberta Ophthalmology Residency program is highly regarded nationally and internationally. Description: Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Corridor invites applications for the role of Deputy Corridor Clinical Department Lead (DCCDL), Hospital Medicine Program, Child Health. This 0.10 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Corridor Clinical Department Lead, Child Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available. Other major accountabilities include but not limited to: - To assist with building the capacity in the pediatric hospital medicine service (to help with the medical models of care work) - Develop capacity in pediatric hospital medicine, with a focus on non-teaching services - Dealing with concerns from clients regarding the quality of medical/clinical care. - Development of orientation, periodic review, and exit processes for physicians for the Hospital medicine program (Child Health). - Development, implementation and review of effective medical management structure, and quality and utilization initiatives for the clinical area. - Dealing with physician performance/discipline issues. - Providing clinical leadership, support and coaching to the Hospital medicine program (Child Health) staff, including developing objectives collaboratively with each physician. The Corridor Clinical Department Lead (CCDL) Co - Lead – Surgery CRH is a medical leadership role governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and works collaboratively in a dyad leadership model with Directors for AHS administration, to lead and participate in the development of system wide clinical services.
