Alberta Health Services – North Zone, and the Internal Medicine/Critical Care Unit at Northern Lights Regional Health Centre, is looking for an Internal Medicine/Critical Care Physician to join their current team of specialists and establish a full-time practice in the community of Fort McMurray. This position will provide services in Internal Medicine with a key focus in Critical Care. Northern Lights Regional Health Complex has seven ICU beds. They would also have an outpatient practice. The successful candidate is required to offer services within the Northern Lights Regional Health Centre and out of a community-based specialty practice, within the community of Fort McMurray. The candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing independent outpatient practice or form an independent outpatient office of their own. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process. Duties include but not limited to: - Reside in and have as his/her primary residence within the community of Fort McMurray. - Establish and maintain full time community-based practice within the community. - Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services. - Provide call assistance as per call schedules, including equal participation in the ICU/CC call schedule, as required. - Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies. - Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of ICU/CC. - Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs. - Contribute to and participate in other administrative duties, as assigned. - Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care.
- Current Alberta Practice Permit or valid CPSA Letter of Eligibility to practice in the advertised position (proof of to be included with application). - Have subspecialty certification or equivalent in Critical Care services, or has completed, or currently enrolled in a Critical Care training program. - Have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (RCPSC). - Recent and relevant experience (within the past 1-2 years) in all areas of practice required, as Most Responsible Physician. - Must have Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) or be FRCPC Eligible. - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). - Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). Fee for Service On Call Stipend - Physicians are remunerated for being on call. Multiple Alberta Medical Association (AMA) Compensation Programs, including the Rural Remote Northern Program (RRNP), which provides a variable fee premium for Fort McMurray of 19.98%.
