Acute Care Alberta is inviting applications from Family Physicians with expertise in Geriatrics to join the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital Geriatric Inpatient Rehabilitation Program in Edmonton. This position is approx. 0.8 FTE, involves rotating coverage on a monthly or every 2 months basis of 3 teams of 12 -15 patients. The Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital is the largest freestanding tertiary rehabilitation center in Canada, serving patients of all ages who require complex rehabilitation to enable them to participate in life to the fullest. As a leading-edge academic teaching hospital, the Glenrose participates in educational training programs for health sciences professionals and offers an array of research and technology development opportunities. The successful candidate will work with an integrated group of healthcare professionals. Our geriatric patients typically have had acute physical, cognitive and social decline in the past 6 months. The responsibilities of the successful individuals would include medical care for 12-15 patients on a rotation basis, completing all administrative data related to care for the patients, participate in meetings related to patient care and quality improvement. Candidates would be encouraged to participate in bedside teaching of learners, and to participate in research initiatives. Qualifications: The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in Family Medicine with the College of Family Physician of Canada, or in General Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada. For Family medicine candidate, a certificate in Care of the Elderly or equivalent would be an asset. The candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). A proven track record of collaboration and mentoring trainees is preferred. The candidate is expected to adhere to the Alberta Health Services Bylaws and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Code of Conduct.
Remuneration is competitive and based on FFS which can be transfer to an cARP if there is interest.
