Description: Alberta Health Services (AHS) is inviting applications from family or emergency physicians with a background in urgent or emergency care to join the Department of Family Medicine in Calgary. Four positions are available that will provide permanent coverage (including days, evenings, and weekends) starting June 1, 2025 at the South Calgary Health Centre (SCHC) Urgent Care Centre (UCC). The SCHC UCC is a vibrant and energetic high-volume site with a wide variety and complexity of patient presentations which operates from 08:00 until 20:00 daily, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The site features lab and x-ray services and full time orthopedic technologist services while utilizing an electronic medical record. The successful physician must be able to fill the scheduling requirements as described above and will integrate seamlessly into a fast paced multidisciplinary team environment including licensed practical nurses (LPNs), orthopedic technicians (OTs), and registered nurses (RNs). Qualifications: Required Qualifications: The successful applicant will: - Be certified in Family Medicine with the Canadian College of Family Physicians or certified in Emergency Medicine with the Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians - Hold active licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta - Have current medical liability insurance coverage - Demonstrate strong, clear communication skills including written, auditory, and verbal - Have greater than six months of experience in an Urgent Care or Emergency Room setting - Must have a current Locum position at SCHC Urgent Care with a minimum of six months experience at SCHC Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with information technology systems, such as Netcare, Connect Care, and PACS - Previous experience providing urgent or emergency care to pediatric patients - CCFP (EM) or FRCPC (EM) designation -We thank all applicants for their interest, only those individuals selected for an interview will be contacted.
