Quality Improvement and Safety Lead Section of Thoracic Surgery The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services – Calgary Zone invites applications for a Quality Improvement and Safety Lead for the Section of Thoracic Surgery. The term of the position is 3 years from May 1, 2025 – January 31, 2028. FTE: 0.05
Deliverables for this position include: § Representing the Section at the Calgary Zone Surgical Quality Council within the Department of Surgery’s Office of Surgical Quality § Presenting Calgary Zone Reports for surgical activity within specific section § Liaising with Surgeon Champions for the NSQIP program at all Calgary Zone acute care sites on issues relevant to specific section § Serving as a Member of the Section Executive Committee § Providing Surgical Quality Reports at Section and Department Executive Committee meetings § Developing strategies – in alignment with the Office of Surgical Quality – to improve surgical outcomes § Liaising with the specific Section Institutes and relevant SCN to review Semi-annual Calgary Zone Reports § Representing the section on any zone wide quality assurance review that involves that section § Supporting the section with any zone wide safety initiative that is implemented. This role is supported by the Department of Surgery and reports to the Section Chief of Thoracic Surgery. The successful candidate must be a member of the Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services – Calgary Zone Section of Thoracic Surgery and RCPSC certified.
