This position is a COMMUNITY position and is NOT part of Alberta Health Services. Job Description: Start Date: ASAP Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent Key Accountabilities Physiologix is located in southwest Edmonton Alberta and is Canada's most comprehensive Neuro-Musculo-Skeletal community clinic. It is a dynamic, collaborative, multi-disciplinary clinic that values excellence in clinical care and work-life balance. The range of comprehensive on-site services include diagnostic imaging (x-ray, diagnostic ultrasound, and fluoroscopically-guided pain management), allied health (physical therapy, massage therapy, psychology), and medical and surgical specialists (Neurology, Physiatry, Rheumatology, Sports Medicine, Plastic Surgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Anesthesiology). There is ample support staff available. Be part of a multi-disciplinary team that truly values one-stop-shop comprehensive care for their patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing the following duties: • Provide medical diagnosis and treatment for pain conditions. • Provide health counselling to patients and family members. • Educate patients on the presentation of pain disorders, including optimizing interventional pain management strategies. • Treatment of patients with pain disorders to maintain or improve the ability for daily quality of life. • Maintain complete and accurate patient medical records. • Coordinate the activities of a larger health care team to ensure proper care of pain conditions. • Conduct or participate in clinical and pain research studies. • Can participate in ultrasound and/or fluoroscopically guided pain interventional procedures. • Can participate in Pain Consultations and Consultations within their base specialty. • Can conduct Independent Medical Examinations. Role requirements Education: Doctor of Medicine; • Fellowship training in Anesthesiology recognized by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC) or have a Pain Medicine Fellowship; and/or be Eligible for a Sponsorship Position via CPSA. Licensure: Completion of the qualifying examinations of the Medical Council of Canada or the Collège des médecins du Québec and licensing (or eligible for licensing) by the provincial or territorial licensing authority are required. Experience: No specific experience is necessary, though candidates with experience are preferred.
