The Specialized Geriatric Services Program (SGS – Clinical Alternative Relationship Plan), in partnership with Covenant Health and Alberta Health Services invites applications for a Locum Geriatrician (Internal Medicine)/ Care of the Elderly Physician (Family Medicine) to join the Division of Geriatric Medicine / Care of the Elderly located in Edmonton, Alberta. This locum position will be based primarily at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital. Covenant Health is committed to promoting diversity, inclusion and equity. The successful applicants will be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Family Medicine, or the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. This position will be located at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital and consists of the inpatient management of patients on the geriatric unit. The position will also provide on call coverage for the GNCH Geriatrics service. The term of this locum is 7 months starting June 1, 2025.
Required: · MD or equivalent. · Licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. · Training in Care of the Elderly (Family Medicine) /Geriatric Medicine (Internal Medicine). · Certification in General Internal Medicine/Geriatric Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or certification in Family Medicine/Care of the Elderly from the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP). · Expertise and commitment to quality care and patient safety. · Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) in the healthcare environment. · Understanding of Just Culture and its role in healthcare.
