Description: Alberta Health Services in partnership with The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Nephrology, invites applications for a 1 year Locum Nephrologist to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital/Kaye Edmonton Clinic, located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The anticipated start date for the locum position is February 1, 2026. The Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada's premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to 39,000 students and 15,000 faculty and staff. Alberta Health Services (AHS) is Canada's largest and only provincial health region providing services for a population of over 3 million people. The Division of Nephrology at the University of Alberta provides leadership to the educational and administrative activities of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, and Alberta Health Services. The University of Alberta Nephrology group primarily serves patients in the Edmonton Zone and the North Zone. The key accountabilities for the position will include providing patient coverage during a 1 year parental leave and may include, but not be limited to: weeks and weekends of general nephrology inpatient, and consult services as well as hemodialysis coverage at the University of Alberta Hospital and across satellite outpatient dialysis units within the Edmonton and North Zones. The remainder of the weeks in the year (i.e. the weeks not on hospital service) will be dedicated to managing Nephrology ambulatory patent at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic. The successful applicant will also be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will be an MD with certification in Nephrology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).
