The Division of General Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta, and the Clinical Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services, Edmonton Zone are accepting applications for an Abdominal Transplantation/Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgeon. The primary practice site for this position will be the University of Alberta Hospital. The Division of General Surgery, Department of Surgery, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry at the University of Alberta, and the Clinical Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services, Edmonton Zone are accepting applications for an Abdominal Transplantation/Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgeon. The primary practice site for this position will be the University of Alberta Hospital. The Transplant/HPB Service at the University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services currently consists of four surgeons while the Division of General Surgery presently consists of 63 General Surgeons. The HPB Service provides specialized care to patients from across Western Canada in Liver, Pancreas, and Multivisceral Transplantation Surgery, Abdominal Organ Recovery as well as Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery.
Applicants must hold an MD or equivalent with completed training in General Surgery and must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta. The successful applicant will have a job description which includes a commitment to clinical care delivery, education and research. A major commitment to academic surgery is expected. Training in liver transplantation and organ procurement in an ASTS accredited program or equivalent is required. Experience in kidney and pancreas transplantation would be an asset. Experience in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery is required. Additional training in minimal access hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery would be an important advantage.
