Cancer Care Alberta in conjunction with the University of Calgary, are seeking a 1.0 FTE Medical Oncologist to start as soon as possible at the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre (MEYCC) in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The successful applicant will become a member of a multidisciplinary cancer program located at the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre (MEYCC) site in Medicine Hat, Alberta, and will join a team of medical staff, Nurse Practitioners and medical support staff working in the South Zone. The MEYCC in Medicine Hat is one of four Regional Cancer Centres within Cancer Care Alberta’s Community Oncology portfolio. Serving Southern Alberta and Southeastern British Columbia and Southwestern Saskatchewan, the centre delivers a wide range of state-of-the-art treatment and care to cancer patients. Cancer care practice at the MEYCC is centered around 7 major tumor groups with rarer tumors managed in conjunction with consultation and expertise from the tertiary centers in Calgary and Edmonton. The MEYCC operates within a provincial framework for cancer care supported by provincial clinical guidelines and standards, focused on patient centered care. Medical Oncologists are expected to participate in local and provincial tumor team-based activities including clinical case reviews at tumor board rounds, annual, provincial tumor team meetings, local quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives and educational programs and are supported by a network of Medical Oncologists province wide.
Qualifications include an MD, certification in Internal Medicine, special competency in Medical Oncology (or equivalent), and be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta. Medical Oncology practice at Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre is disease site oriented. The successful candidates focus would be the care of patients affected by the more common malignancies, including lung, GI, GU and Breast cancers. The successful applicant will be expected to deliver excellent patient care and must have obtained Fellowship in Medical Oncology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada by the time of appointment. The annual compensation will be calculated in accordance with the Cancer Care Alberta Physician compensation grid for Medical Oncologists ranging from Level 1 $416,192 per annum to Level 3 $531,341 per annum. Grid placement will be based on qualifications, training and experience. Additional support from Cancer Care Alberta: CCA provides a recruitment support that includes the following conditional on leadership approval: 1.
