Description: The successful applicant will join academic pediatric neurologists, developmental pediatricians, and pediatric physiatrists in providing a full spectrum of clinical services. This position is a 1.0 full-time equivalent and includes negotiated and committed protected time for research and other academic pursuits. The position will be a 60% clinical commitment to Stollery Children’s Hospital and the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. Expertise in Electromyography and nerve Conduction Studies (EMG/NCS) is required. The proposed position will be comprised of (but is negotiable): ? Clinical service: 60% ? Administration: 5% ? Research: 20% ? Clinical Teaching: 15% Clinical Responsibilities include: ? Pediatric Neurology inpatient and outpatient clinical services, including but not limited to Inpatient consultation and follow up (General service, Neuro-Critical Care Service), General and subspecialty outpatient clinics, as well as the On Call schedule. ? Pediatric Neurology consultation for diagnostic assessments (EMG/NCS) and follow-up at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital (GRH) (Pediatric Neuromuscular Clinic) ? +/- Pediatric Neurology EEG *(Based on qualification) In addition to clinical care, the members of the division are active in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate level, and have a fully accredited Pediatric Neurology subspecialty training program through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The division also has an active basic and clinical science research program, collaborating locally, nationally, and internationally. Academic members of the Department of Pediatrics are eligible to become members of the Women and Children’s Health Research Institute (WCHRI) which supports research excellence dedicated to improving the health of children and women. WCHRI is a partnership between the University of Alberta and Alberta Health Services, with core funding support from the Stollery Children s Hospital Foundation and the Alberta Women's Health Foundation. WCHRI is the only research institute in Canada and one of the few in the world to focus on women’s, children’s and perinatal health. Thanks to our funders’ generosity, WCHRI is able to provide a broad range of support to research programs, including access to funding opportunities and research support services (e.g. biostatistics, qualitative design, KT, data management, clinical trials support, grant application development). WCHRI also invests in the next generation of researchers through graduate and summer studentships, postdoctoral fellowships and funding for trainee travel /presentation of research outcomes.
Qualifications: Interested applicants must have: ? MD degree (or equivalent) ? Completed subspecialty training in Pediatric Neurology ? Completed a Pediatric Neuromuscular training, as well as be certified in EMG/NCS. ? Must be certified or eligible to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). Considered an asset: ? Remuneration for this position is based on the Academic Medicine & Health Services Program (AMHSP). Salary will be commensurate with education and experience and ranges based on a number of different factors with an annual mean of $349, 009.92.
