Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone invites applications for the role of Zone Clinical Section Chief (ZCSC), Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Hospital Based Dentistry. This 0.10 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Zone Clinical Department Head (ZCDH), Surgery. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available. This is a senior medical leadership role that provides essential support to the Edmonton Zone Clinical Department Head, Surgery. The Section Chief offers expert advice and guidance on matters within the Clinical Department of Surgery and plays a critical role in both the Section and the Department overall. With surgical waitlists increasing, effective coordination is required to manage resource allocation and plan recruitment in an organized manner. The Section Chief works closely with the ZCDH, Facility Site Chiefs, Medical Directors, and other leaders. The role also involves collaboration with physicians, operational leaders, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure patients receive high-quality care while resources are used appropriately. This position is vital to the functionality of the Section and encompasses responsibility for both adult and pediatric hospital-based patient care. The Section Chief engages with other Sections to support integrated, high-quality care and provides leadership to strengthen and sustain these relationships. The position has an expected start date of approximately February 1, 2026 and an expected term of 3 years.
