Description: The Department of Medicine ( http://www.departmentofmedicine.com) in the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services (http://www.albertahealthservices.ca) invites applications for a position as an Infectious Disease Specialist and clinician-investigator. Primary clinical responsibilities will include providing inpatient general infectious disease consultancy services inclusive of night and weekend call and outpatient care in the home parenteral therapy programs. Other areas of clinical focus in the infectious disease field may be pursued and are welcome. Inpatient care activities may occur at any of the Calgary Zone adult hospital sites. Consideration for the position will be considered based on the following attributes: -Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with health care colleagues in the provision of patient care -Completion of advanced training such as a fellowship training in research methods, a degree or diploma in relevant areas (or equivalent experience) will be considered an asset -Engagement in supervision and teaching of medical trainees at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as colleagues by way of formal and informal means --Track record of academic outputs including invited presentations, conference abstracts and peer-reviewed publications as well as potential to obtain external research funding will be considered an asset. Non-traditional metrics (per the Declaration on Research Assessment) will be incorporated into the evaluation. -Willingness to participate in divisional and departmental administrative activities (e.g., hiring or student committees) - Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion (EDI) in the workplace in order to build relationships and understand the varied social and structural health determinants in order to work effectively with diverse colleagues, teams, and communities The position represents 0.55 full time equivalent (FTE) status for clinical care. Beyond the clinical services above, 0.40 FTE will be provided for research activities, and 0.05FTE will be provided for educational activities. The candidate will be expected to obtain external research funding, supervise trainees and will be evaluated using the Department of Medicine research matrix. Research activities should pertain to the field of infectious disease broadly and may employ quantitative, qualitative, or other methodologies. The distribution of the AMHSP 1.0 FTE may be subject to change over time based on the activity distribution and administrative contracts while ensuring it meets the needs and interests of the candidate.
