Description: Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is seeking a 1FTE (full-time) Anatomical or General Pathologist for Sturgeon Community Hospital (SCH). SCH is a 167 bed, acute care facility in St. Albert, located northwest of Edmonton, offering a range of acute and outpatient care including 24-hour emergency services, women’s health, and a day surgery program. The successful candidate is required to have excellent skills in surgical pathology and cytology. It is expected that the successful applicant would participate in pathology resident teaching and supervision on occasion. There is opportunity to obtain clinical academic appointments at University of Alberta. APL is a multi-site, province-wide laboratory organization providing comprehensive laboratory services and is an independent, but publicly funded organization that is a wholly owned subsidiary of Primary Care Alberta (PCA). Job Summary & Responsibilities Anatomical/General Pathologists must maintain the highest possible standards of practice including prompt delivery of services to match established key performance indicators and provincial metrics, must actively participate in quality assurance and quality improvement programs, must provide departmental on call coverage as required, and provide teaching when needed.
Qualifications Qualifications include a MD, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta, and certification in Anatomic Pathology (Diagnostic and Molecular Pathology) or General Pathology (Diagnostic and Clinical Pathology) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology by the American Board of Pathology. An excellent remuneration package including relocation allowance is provided. Remuneration range for a Laboratory Physician / Pathologist in Alberta is $364,597.00.00 to $424,123.00 per annum based on 209 days of service, subject to the conditions of the joint APL and Alberta Section of Laboratory Physicians/Alberta Medical Association Laboratory Physician Agreement. Starting remuneration will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s level of training and experience.
