Position Description: The Section of Newborn Critical Care, Department Pediatrics, invites applications for a part-time 0.1 FTE position as the NICU Site Lead at the Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC), within Alberta Health Services - Calgary Corridor. This position reports to the Corridor Clinical Section Lead of Newborn Critical Care, and ultimately to the Corridor Clinical Department Lead, Pediatrics. The PLC NICU Site Lead is responsible for the day-to-day administrative duties in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The NICU Site Lead shall assist and collaborate with the Corridor Clinical Section Lead to fulfill duties and responsibilities of the Corridor Clinical Department Lead as applicable to the Section. Patient Care: 1. Actively support processes that will enable the provision of high-quality inpatient clinical care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at the Peter Lougheed Centre by undertaking to establish benchmarks and measurements in accordance with the departmental quality assurance framework. 2. In conjunction with the Zone Neonatal Advisory Committee (ZNAC), develop, review, revise and implement AHS policies, procedures and guidelines relating to patient care in a timely manner. 3. Collaborate and participate in Sectional Quality Improvement activities as they pertain and impact on the Peter Lougheed Centre site. 4. Participate in efforts to ensure that resources are utilized in a cost-effective and efficient manner within the NICU at the Peter Lougheed Centre. 5. Participate in the Department’s tactical and operational planning, implementation and evaluation of ongoing and new patient care programs within the framework of the mission and philosophy of AHS and in conjunction with the University of Calgary, where appropriate. 6. Collaborate with the Corridor Clinical Section Lead of Newborn Critical Care in the review of patient related complaints pertaining to the NICU at the Peter Lougheed Centre, report the findings and make appropriate recommendations to the Corridor Clinical Department Lead. Administration: 1. Review and recommend the appropriate and efficient use of resources by members of the Clinical Section of Newborn Critical Care and medical staff practicing in the NICU at PLC. 2. In collaboration with the Zone Neonatal Advisory Committee, develop and periodically update policies and procedures to facilitate the efficient operation of the PLC NICU. 3. Represent the Clinical Section of Newborn Critical Care on Departmental, AHS and Site-specific committees as required. 4. Facilitate open and effective communication between the Clinical Section of Newborn Critical Care and the Department and other disciplines and departments. 5. Establish ad hoc committees as necessary including setting terms of reference, membership, and evaluative procedures to assess effectiveness. 6. Qualifications: Qualifications include an MD or equivalent, Fellowship certification in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, or equivalent The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
