Position Overview Covenant Health invites applications for a Locum Obstetrician & Gynecologist to be based primarily at Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work within a collaborative, patient-centered care environment while supporting a well-established obstetrical and gynecology service. The successful candidate will become part of a collegial team of physicians and allied health professionals and will participate in call responsibilities and medical education activities. Academic Appointment The successful applicant will be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment with the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, University of Alberta. This appointment is managed through a separate process with the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. Key Responsibilities - Provide comprehensive obstetrical and gynecological care - Participate in the shared call schedule - Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education - Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team - Uphold high standards of clinical excellence, patient safety, and professionalism The term of the locum will be September 1, 2026 - February 28, 2027 with potential for an extension.
Qualifications Required: - MD or equivalent - Certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada - Licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) - Demonstrated commitment to quality care, patient safety, and teamwork - Strong interpersonal and communication skills Application Process Interested applicants are invited to submit: - A letter of interest - Curriculum vitae - Contact information for three professional references
