The Grande Prairie Regional Hospital is recruiting physicians to expand the facility-based Hospitalist program. The hospitalist will have hospital & admitting privileges. This position will be 1.0 FTE (full-time equivalency) combine of 1 week per month (approximately 11 weeks of service per annum) Hospital rotation & a minimum of 1 week per month in a Community Based Practice. Duties include but not limited to: - Reside in and have as his/her primary residence, Grande Prairie - On-site participation in the Hospitalist program (schedule) to provide 24/7 coverage which may include but not limited to; - Internal Medicine Hospitalists rotate through blocks of inpatient service, such as 7 days on & 7 days off. During these blocks, focus is exclusively on inpatient care, admissions, ward management and discharges - Patients admitted under IM hospitalists are discharged with follow-up booked directly into that physician’s outpatient IM clinic. This creates continuity, improves patient satisfaction, and reduces bounce-backs. - FM Hospitalists continue to manage lower complexity cases and routine care. - No outpatient clinic during active impatient weeks to protect quality and safety - Contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities - Contribute to and participate in other administrative duties as assigned. - Hospitalists will remain on-site at GPRH and not work in their clinic during assigned hospitalist shifts Community Information: GRANDE PRAIRIE: Located about 450 kilometers northwest of Edmonton, and about the same distance north of Jasper National Park, Grande Prairie offers the best of both worlds - big city amenities without losing the comfort of a smaller community and close proximity to outstanding wilderness areas.
