GRANDE PRAIRIE & GRANDE PRAIRIE REGIONAL HOSPITAL is seeking a General Surgeon who is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) or FRCSC eligible with experience in community general surgery, encompassing a wide variety of elective, urgent, and emergent surgical pathologies. Experience in laparoscopic surgery is essential. Willing to travel on a regular basis to outlying communities to provide surgical services to ongoing programs of the department. The Surgeon will have Alberta Health Services hospital privileges. The position will include hospital call. Duties include, but may not be limited to: • Reside in and have as his/her primary residence, Grande Prairie •Establish and maintain a part-time practice within the community •Provide hospital and call assistance as per call schedule, including part-time participation in the general surgery on-call schedule for the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital • Provide surgical consultative services (beyond primary community of practice) either in-person or utilizing Tele-Medicine or another form of telecommunication • Contribute to and participate in teaching programs and activities. • Contribute to and participate in other administrative duties as assigned. The successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing practice or by opening their own practice. This is the candidate's business choice and will not be managed through the recruitment process. Qualifications: Educational Requirements: - Registration with the Royal College of Canada is required, FRC(S)C or eligibility. - Registration with the CPSA or proof of Eligibility for Alberta Licensure (required with application). - Preference will be given to applicants who do not require or have completed the CPSA Preliminary Clinical Assessment.
