Alberta Health Services - NORTH ZONE, is actively recruiting a Family Medicine physician to establish a full-time practice in the community of Valleyview. This position will provide services in Community Clinic, Emergency Room Coverage, Inpatient & Outpatient Services, and Long Term Care. Once chosen, the successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing practice or opening their own practice. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process. Responsibilities include but not limited to: - Reside in and have as his/her primary residence within the community of Valleyview; - Establish and maintain full time community based practice within the community; - Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services; - Provide call assistance as per call schedules, including full time participation in the Emergency Department call schedule, as required; - Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies; - Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Department of Family Medicine; - Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs; - Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned, and - Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care. Community Information: The population of Valleyview is 1,752 (7,215 including catchment) and its situated 348km northwest of Edmonton at the junction of Highway 43 and Highway 49, leading to the town motto, “Portal to the Peace”. Valleyview hosts the Crocus Hill Stampede, an annual rodeo and agricultural show at the Valleyview and District Agricultural Society grounds. Valleyview is the home of Greenview's regional multiplex Greenview Regional Multiplex with aquatics, a fieldhouse, a play area, commercial kitchen, and a fitness centre. There are ice arena facilities in the town as well. The nearby Sturgeon Lake provide setting for outdoor activities. Required Qualifications: - Current Alberta Practice Permit or valid CPSA Letter of Eligibility to practice in the advertised position (proof of to be included with application). - Recent and relevant experience within the past 2 years in all areas of practice required, as the sole provider. Compensation for this opportunity is based on a fee-for-service model and may include additional program stipends. The average gross income of a Family Medicine Physician in Alberta is $300,000 to $600,000. Total compensation for fee-for-service billings vary by individual practitioner, and the compensation shown reflects the average range of wages for this specialty as reported by Alberta Health.
