Position Description: T he Section of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition, Department of Pediatrics, invites applications for a 0.8 FTE fee for service Locum position. The target start date for this position is July 1, 2026. This position is posted in tandem with and is only available if the applicant also applies and is successful in their application to the following position: Position Title: Pediatric Gastroenterologist - Locum, 0.2 FTE-Alberta Children’s Hospital-Calgary Requisition: (will include once I can input into Dr. Jobs Alberta) Link: (will include once I can input into Dr. Jobs Alberta) The successful candidate will have 100% time committed to clinical activity, which will provide 184 days (368 half days) per year of clinical service. The inpatient service will provide an estimated 120 half days of In-Patient Consulting +/- Attending Physician service, weekend/STAT days and after-hours night call coverage. It will also consist of 248 half days of Ambulatory service/Other Patient Care including procedure days (5 hours each) with or without trainees. The position will include GI clinics, both on site and virtual, Medical Day Unit visits, Fellows clinics, scheduled clinical encounters outside of the physician’s usual clinic time, endoscopic procedures in the GI lab and OR, ambulatory care, and physician telephone referrals/advice. The Section of Pediatric Gastroenterology is comprised of 11 specialists and is based at the state-of-the-art Alberta Children’s Hospita l. The Department of Pediatrics has over 500 clinical and academic faculty members who are part of the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. The Alberta Children’s Hospital services the City of Calgary and the residents of Southern Alberta, SE British Columbia and SW Saskatchewan: a catchment area of ~ 3 million people. Qualifications: T he ideal candidate will have recent work experience working in both on site and virtual GI clinics, Medical Day Unit visits, Fellows clinics, scheduled clinical encounters that take place outside of the physician’s usual clinic time, endoscopic procedures in the GI lab and OR, ambulatory care, and providing referrals/advice over the phone. The ideal candidate will have expertise in GI mobility studies. Candidates must have the following qualifications: MD, Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Must read, write, and speak English. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and Permanent Residents will be given priority.
