This position is part of Recovery Alberta, supporting our ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare services across the province. The Department of Psychiatry, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary and Recovery Alberta, invite applications for a Contingent Term appointment at the Associate Professor level. Following five years of successful Residency Training program growth and as we move toward accreditation, this role will lead the next phase of development by enhancing the quality and impact of scholarship through the exploration of innovative teaching methods, the thoughtful integration of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, expansion of simulation-based learning, development of a meaningful and sustainable resident research track, and advancement of equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, particularly in training residents to effectively care for vulnerable populations. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with local, national, and international stakeholders to research, design, implement, and evaluate these initiatives, helping to elevate the program’s academic profile, strengthen its contribution to the school and community, and establish it as a leader in postgraduate medical education in Canada, while also supporting departmental priorities in their role as leader of Residency Training. Qualifications include an MD, certification in Psychiatry, eligibility for regular licensure in the Province of Alberta, in the area of psychosis with more than ten years of education experience. The successful candidate will have 50% protected time for academics, focused primarily in the area of education. Experience in serving as the Residency Training Director and Competence Committee Chair at the postgraduate level for psychiatry residency program is preferred. This position will have direct involvement in the design and delivery of workshops and other CPD activities related to Psychiatry.
